Tools used: black pen, black marker, colored pencils, colored pens, silver metallic sign pen, small amount of black oil pastel(for the rocks) and correction fluid (for the eyes)
The clover-vine ghost shows up every month of November both in tropical and deciduous forests where clover-vines grow. (Chrisoleah's birthday is the 28th of November). She is seen still wearing the locket on her neck given by her father as a birthday gift.
> General Description: I thought that the clover vines should merge with her body so I drew roots all over.(yeah, those vines are part of her!) The eyes should be super white, and yep, I used correction fluid for them. The dress should be like a formal birthday dress (since she died on her 18th birthday) but the hem and the sleeves must be badly torn (since she pursued in the woods and fell on a cliff). There must be sparkling thingies around her, showing that the leaves are giving her "life energy." (I used silver metallic pen for these) ^^
> the Name: CHRISOLEAH (pronounced as KREE-ZO-LE-YAH, the stress is on the first syllable ^^) there is really no basis for it; it is strange but it just popped out of my head before drawing this character.
I thought it must be a name that sounds gentle, kind and mysterious. It must be unique, one that I've never heard before...^^ I'haven't checked yet if it has been used before. XD At first, i was planning to name her Cristiana, but then, I changed my mind. Anyway, for me, Chrisoleah sounds nice...do you think so, too?
> the Term "Clover-Vine:" I'm proud to say, this is my idea. We all know that clovers aren't vines, but I just thought if one will exist as A vine, that would be fantastic! I'm sure it will be a good ornamental vine for gardens!
(You see, my mother has a beautiful garden and I grow up seeing that beautiful "gallery" of hers. Aside from this, I am very much fond of drawing leaves, and 'quite attracted to the color green. I love clovers and I've been searching for a four-leaf clover but unfortunately, I haven't found one yet. LOL! I wanted to incorporate this idea to the character. BTW, Green clover vines grow in tropical forests, while red clover vines grow in deciduos woods.
here, what I love coloring the most are the clover leaves...^^
So, there she is! ^^
this is a contest entry for the Design a Halloween Character Contest: #TeamGhosts..^^
win or lose, I would still be very happy (as I am now) that I got the chance to create this character and let the world know of her. XD I never really paid attention to contest announcements ever before (due to hectic work sched) except last month, Lol! (i'm on leave anyway!
) contests are really exciting and for me, they are motivations to create more artworks!
they serve as a challenges as well, so that you can improve your skills ( esp if the deadline is near, you need to work out your mind to come up with everything, draw as swiftly as possible and at the same time, being careful not to mess up the details)
have a nice day everyone! ^^
